SACC provides FREE educational programs for schools and community programs servicing youth in Androscoggin County.
Why should SACC come to my Classroom?
The primary focus of SACC’s educational program is prevention and empowerment of children and young adults. With that our presentations for young elementary school-aged children deal with personal space, name-calling, body language and how to be a good friend. In addition, we stress the need for children to tell a trusted adult if they have been hurt or feel unsafe.
For older elementary school children, we begin to focus on issues surrounding sexual harassment and bullying as well as reminding them how to maintain personal space and be a good friend.
In Middle and High School, our presentations focus on Healthy Relationships as well as issues surrounding Dating Violence. We also talk about services available, both in the community and at school and encourage students to think of the supportive systems as open and available to them.
With all presentations, the lessons are augmented with hands-on, fun activities that help to create a memorable and safe learning experience.
And…SACC’s educational programs are FREE to all schools and non-profits in Androscoggin County!
Developmentally Appropriate and Grade Specific Lesson Plans
The Sexual Assault Crisis Center strives to provide high quality prevention based presentations to as many students in Androscoggin County as possible. These presentations are available at no cost to the hosting school or community agency. Our presentations and programs are designed to meet the Key Concepts in Sexual Assault Education as identified by the Maine Department of Education and the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Most importantly, as we strive to meet the individual needs to each learning environment, we tailor our presentations to the ages and stages of your students and timeframe of the class.
While our educators are often invited into Health Classes, we can easily tailor our programs to fit into classes such as Literature, Current Events, High School Psychology, Computer Science or Parenting education to name a few.
